Valleywag Cares Less About Women in Technology than Google Engineering

I’ll be honest, I’m excited that Women 2.0 is tomorrow and proud that Debbie and I made the finals.  So, I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve been wondering all week when Valleywag would give a shout out to the conference.  I pinged them back on Tuesday to let them know that the finalists were announced and their response was “didn’t realize it was this weekend…”.  So I waited patiently, but I couldn’t help myself just now.  I saw their calendar post was up and it didn’t include the event!  After all week, when the only search for women 2.0 on their site came up bashing on the percentage of women engineers at google, they still haven’t posted anything

Well, I just had this conversation over IM:

3:20:55 PM Lindsay Tabas: i’m sad you still left out women 2.0 from the calendar this weekend
3:21:05 PM heyvalleywag: Oh, crap!
3:21:07 PM Lindsay Tabas: there’s probably 300 people registered
3:21:09 PM Lindsay Tabas: for this
3:21:15 PM Lindsay Tabas: the companies were put on tradevibes
3:21:36 PM Lindsay Tabas: valleywag heading:  valleywag cares less about women in technology than google engineering
3:21:36 PM heyvalleywag: Sorry, Google Calendar was broken this morning so I had to go by what I could find on Upcoming.
3:21:56 PM heyvalleywag: My bad!
3:22:01 PM Lindsay Tabas: save that, i’ll put that tagline on my blog
3:22:37 PM heyvalleywag: No, I’ll use that headline with your permission.
3:22:56 PM heyvalleywag: And put a post up this evening.
3:23:05 PM Lindsay Tabas: sure, go ahead
3:23:20 PM heyvalleywag: We’re not above admitting when we screwed up.
3:23:49 PM heyvalleywag: Though I’m still going to blame Google (particularly apps for your domain, which we actually pay for and hence should be more reliable).
3:24:09 PM heyvalleywag: What’s the best link for the event?
